Licenses of Livestock Facilities

Our office undertakes the process of issuing the license of your livestock farm, for all types of breeding and all types of accommodation.

Law 4056/2012 instituted basic changes in the licensing of livestock facilities in relation to the procedure followed under earlier laws and regulations.

Depending on the type of construction and their form, livestock facilities are classified into three categories:

CLASS ONE: SHORT ACCOMMODATIONS

It includes temporary animal shelters for which a building permit is not required (building permit according to the provisions of Law 4067/2012). By the term temporary accommodation is meant the constructions which do not have a load-bearing structural frame of reinforced concrete or structural steel or structural timber, are made of materials such as stones, or concrete blocks or wood or branches or sheet metal or a combination of these, serve the needs of extensive livestock farming or mobile breeders, they can be easily dismantled and removed from the point of operation of the livestock facility, they do not have liquid waste handling systems.

CATEGORY TWO: LIVESTOCK FACILITIES BUILT WITH GREENHOUSE FRAME ACCORDING TO APPROVED CONSTRUCTION TYPES OR LIVESTOCK FACILITIES BUILT ACCORDING TO APPROVED CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS UP TO 300 sq.m.

It includes livestock facilities which:

A) are manufactured with a greenhouse frame, according to the approved types of livestock shelters (fixed and mobile) as defined in no. 5888/03-02-2004 Official Decree of the Ministers of Environment, Spatial Planning and Public Works and Agriculture and for which an approval of compliance with the type of construction is issued by the competent urban planning department instead of a building permit.

After the completion of the works and before the transfer of the animals to the facility, the concerned breeder presents to the responsible town planning a certificate – guarantee of the construction company and the town planning considers the initial construction approval for the completion of the works. The now considered construction approval takes the place of the certificate of compliance with construction standards (Article 6 of Law 4056/2012)

B) have a size of up to 300 sq.m. and are manufactured in accordance with the approved construction standards, as defined in no. 281273/27-08-2004 Official Decree of the Ministers of Environment, Spatial Planning and Public Works and Agriculture and for which an approval of compliance with construction standards is issued by the competent urban planning department instead of a building permit.

After the completion of the works and before the transfer of the animals to the facility, the farmer concerned presents to the competent town planning a responsible statement of the supervising engineer and the town planning considers the initial construction approval as the completion of the works The now considered construction approval takes the place of the compliance certificate of construction standards (Article 6 of Law 4056/2012).

*It should be noted that in both of the above categories a construction study is not required, but construction supervision by an engineer is required.

CATEGORY THREE: LIVESTOCK FACILITIES FOR WHICH A BUILDING PERMIT IS REQUIRED
  • Livestock facilities for which a building permit is required (building permit according to the provisions of Law 4067/2012) are included.

*The required supporting documents as well as the time of issuing the operating license vary according to each case.
